Terms of service

THE LIST is a private online community delivered as a web application. Paying the admission fee grants you a permanent, sequential member number and access to the software: one global room, the member registry, member profiles, private messaging, and the community’s history.

Your member number is a record of admission. It is not a security, an investment, a token, or a transferable asset. It has no resale value guaranteed or implied by us, it cannot be sold, gifted, or moved to another account, and we do not operate or endorse any market for it.

Admission is a one-time fee, determined solely by the member number you receive. There is no subscription and no recurring charge.

• #1 – #5,000 — price = member number
• #5,001 – #7,500 — price = $5,000 (fixed)
• #7,501 and beyond — price = $5,000 + $1 per 10 members

The price shown to you at checkout is the price you pay. If the number you were quoted is taken while you are paying, we do not silently charge you for a different one.

Some capabilities depend on the amount you paid at admission, permanently. These currently include a daily limit on entries written into the global room, the maximum length of an entry, and whether you may publish promotional posts.

Promotional rights attach to admissions of $1,000 or more. Anything published under those rights carries your member number publicly. We may remove promotional content that breaks these terms.

We may change these capabilities as the product develops. We will not raise the price you already paid, and we will not take your member number away except as described in section 5.

The register is a public record. Your member number, display name, the date you were admitted, the amount you paid, and anything you write in the global room are visible to other members and, for the registry, to visitors who are not members.

Do not write anything into the record you would not want attached to your name.

Do not use THE LIST to break the law, harass people, impersonate anyone, send spam, or attempt to interfere with the service. We may suspend or terminate access for any of these.

If your access is terminated for cause, or if you reverse your payment, your member number is not reissued to anyone else. It is retired. The register records that a number was issued once; that record does not change.

Payment processing is currently pending activation. If approved and enabled, payments will be processed by Creem (Creem Technologies), acting as the merchant of record for eligible purchases. They will handle the payment transaction and applicable sales tax or VAT. We do not see or store your card details.

We aim to keep the register running continuously, but we do not promise uninterrupted availability. This is a young product and it may change, break, or be taken offline for maintenance.

If we ever shut THE LIST down permanently, we will give notice by email to members and publish the closing state of the registry.

The service is provided as is. To the extent permitted by law, our total liability to you for any claim relating to THE LIST is limited to the admission fee you paid.

We may update these terms. Material changes will be announced in the global room. Your member number, the price you paid, and the date you were admitted are historical facts and are never altered by a change to these terms.
